Population and planet
Human population on the planet have reached 8 billion recently, this is the highest number in history. At the same time, fertility rates also have fallen to 1.1, below replacement level. So do we have more; or less human beings, than we can carry?
I personally think, Earth as a whole is undergoing a transition, just as predicted by demographic transition theory. Hence, we should refrain from too much interference. Encouraging people to have fewer kids as well as encouraging people to have many kids, is counter productive at this stage.
Policy should instead focus on leveling measures like, migration, social security and rule of law.
