Corruption

Corruption involves paying money to avail or stop government action.

Supply and demand

  • Corruption has a supply side and demand side
  • Those who demanding money and those who give money are equally guilty, e.g., for illegal sand mining

Challenges

  • It reflects moral decay at social and cultural level
  • Denies the fundamental rights of other citizen
  • Here, the ally of vigilance (citizen) act as a colluder
  • It is tougher to detect and stop
  • It is covered under new PCA 1988, but it needs strengthening
Collusive corruption is ethically more guilty. Vigilance agencies needs more powers to detect and prosecute it.
